OPENING FEB 2026. The Clipper is a fresh, lively and welcoming bar and kitchen experience.

Our name is inspired by the first commercial passenger flight between the United States and Europe that landed in Foynes, a harbourside town in County Limerick located on the Shannon Estuary. This historic flight was operated by Pan-American Airways on a Boeing 314 “Clipper” seaplane named “Yankee Clipper”. A behemoth, this trailblazing, luxurious aircraft made transatlantic travel commercially viable with flight times varying between 15-17 hours depending on weather.

Many famous faces visited Foynes during this time; owing to the fact that the sleepy town of Foynes was transformed into a major international airbase. John F. Kennedy, Gracie Fields, Eleanor Roosevelt and Ernest Hemingway all graced these shores. In fact, for a time, Foynes was known as ‘The Casablanca’ of Europe for aviation!
