Welcome to M.J. Wright | Public House

MJ. Wright is a family owned and run pub on the corner of the iconic Market Arcade, opened in 1881, it spans across 4 floors of this historic building. A place for friends and family to gather and for stories to be shared.

Public House & Cellar Bar: Serving creamy pints of stout, whiskey, spirits, wines & beers.
Pub classics food menu offering traditional bar eats.

The Cellar Bar is home to cosy nooks and late night conversations.
The ‘Public House Bar menu’ is also available in the Cellar Bar.

Opening January 2026, our Eating Rooms are located on the first floor.
A 65 seater eating room serving pub classics.
Our pub classics menu is currently available in the pub and cellar bar.

Opening in December 2025, The Butterfly room is situated on the second floor and available for private hire. Ideal for functions and events with it’s own bar and flexible layout.
